TITLE:           "Sunflower in Sunshine"

MEDIUM:       Watercolor on paper

COMMENTS: During the summer I saw this sunflower head peaking out from the leaves of other tall sunflowers. The contrast of the brilliant yellows against the dark greens caught my eye.

This subject seemed to need the careful, multiple washes of watercolor paints. I sometimes return to this style of painting as I explore a composition before painting a larger piece. I contrasted the hard edge washes with some soft edges of colors in the shadows.

The painting comes to you unframed.  A 12 x 16" mat will work well with this size watercolor.
